Personal data protection policy

Allum & Sidaway take the protection of your personal details very seriously. This privacy policy explains what information we collect about you, how we may use it and the steps we take to ensure it is secure.

What information do we hold on you?

-We collect contact details from you when you use a service such as repairs.
-With your permission, we collect details from you when you purchase a product or service, storing your sales or service history against your contact details.
-With your permission, we store your contact details for marketing purposes.

The personal information we collect about you can include your name, postal address, email address and phone number. If you make a purchase by card, we collect your card number & expiry date.

What do you do with that information? Purposes for processing data.

We will use the personal information gathered in our normal course of business primarily to provide the services, offers, or news you have requested, also for administrative purposes;

-Record keeping purposes
-To aid guarantee and warranty issues
-To process an order
– To confirm your identity when you contact us or collect an item
-To keep you informed of any news, offers or promotions that we believe might be of interest to you
-For the prevention of crime & fraud.

We may contact you by post, email or phone for these purposes.

In order to communicate about our products and services, we may work with a select group of organisations to carry out some processing activities on our behalf, such as mailing houses. In these circumstances, we will ensure that your information is protected and used in accordance with our privacy policy. We also have agreements in place that these third parties abide by GDPR. We may also disclose information to the investigating authorities such as the police, if required to do so. We never sell your data to anyone. Unless we have your permission, we won’t share your data with other company’s such as insurance providers.

Our retention periods vary depending on the type of data. Card details from transactions are stored for 7 years, in accordance with UK laws/ tax legislation. Marketing permissions are checked a minimum of once a year, the exact time frame may be determined by the frequency of client visits. We have a process to identify and remove historical sales data- data is not stored indefinitely.

If you have an account with us, in some circumstances (i.e. choosing a bead/ charm for a birthday, to avoid a duplicate item), we may divulge some of your purchase history with friends or family, at their request, providing they can volunteer sufficient personal details to identify you on our system.

Website

We use cookies on our website, www.allumandsidaway.co.uk. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of your computer if you agree. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive. There are some cookies that are essential to the functionality of the website, allowing you, for example, to navigate to the correct page.

We also use ‘analytical’ cookies. They allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around the site when they are using it. This list is not exhaustive and you can block analytical and other cookies by activating the setting on your browser. However this may make certain areas of our site inaccessible. The site uses a cookie for wordfence security, twitter and Google. The site also uses the above cookies when adblock is on.

Any contact details provided via the website will only be used for reply to your communication and to process your enquiry and not used for any other purposes.

How we protect your information

We use all reasonable measures to safeguard the security of your personal information, including and not limited to firewalls, private database system, limited access, use of passwords as appropriate and antivirus software. Data is stored on our secure system and is accessible at the till point.

What to do if you do not wish to receive details of offers from us?

If you do not wish to receive marketing, promotions or news from us, you can opt-out at any time by either by contacting your local Allum & Sidaway store by phone, email or letter. Our head office address is contactable as follows;

Your rights to access your personal information and consent

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data that we hold on you. To obtain a copy, please call, write or email to your local store, or to Abigail Davies, as above.

By submitting your personal information you consent to the use of that information as set out in this policy. You have the right to withdraw consent at any point, or to request that your personal data is updated or deleted from our system.

CCTV

CCTV is in place in our stores for security. The recordings are not shared with other parties, other than in the event of an incident. CCTV is retained for a maximum of 4 weeks.

Marketing

We may consider legitimate interests within our marketing policy. We may post to you if we have reason to believe that the content would be of legitimate interest. An example of this would be posting information on an event or promotion to a previous client.

When you opt in for marketing, we have been authorised by you to hold your data & can subsequently contact you by the methods agreed to, with information of events, promotions etc. You have the right to withdraw consent or change your preferences at any time. Our processes are in line with the GDPR legislation.
