My daughter had her ears pierced with Hannah today. She was a little apprehensive but was put at ease and came away with some very pretty earrings. Highly recommended.

About Our Dorchester Store

Allum & Sidaway jewellers  in Dorchester are located at 37 South St, Dorchester, the county town of Dorset in the south of England. Probably most famous for its association with the Tolpuddle Martyrs, Dorchester sits on the edge of an area of outstanding natural beauty. It was first settled in prehistoric times and grew to become an important Roman Garrison. Remnants of the Roman wall that surrounded the city can still be seen, as can the remains of a Roman town house. Many Roman coins and treasures have been unearthed here, including a cache of 22,000 3rd-century Roman coins discovered in South Street in 1936, a gold ring, bronze figures and many other treasures, some of which are on display in the County Museum. In the 17th and 18th centuries Dorchester suffered several very destructive fires, which destroyed a number of churches and hundreds of houses. Few of the early buildings remain, and much of the architecture of interest dates back to the rebuilding of the city during the 18th century. In the 19th and 20th century the towns history was intertwined with the life of Thomas Hardy, a famous English writer. The town is fictionalised in his work as Casterbridge, and two of his houses, as well as much Hardy memorabilia are on display in the area.
